Bio:
Upon turning professional in 1985, Dan accepted the position of resident Coach at Deeside Leisure Centre. After competing in the World professional Championships in Jaca in 1987 he emigrated to the US and toured with Ice Capades as a featured principal soloist with their East Company North American tours. In 1989 he resumed coaching in Pittsburgh and then moved to Chicago and continued to coach and develop a skate manufacturing business Ultima Skates Ltd.
Official product launch in 1996 at US Nationals was a huge success and the company’s success hit a high point in 2002 where Ultima brand skates gathered 4 Olympic Gold medals at the Salt Lake City games! Throughout this time Dan continued to teach and had the pleasure of working with many high profile Elite competitors including National, World and Olympic competitors.
Jackson Skate Company acquired Ultima Skates Ltd. in 2002 and Dan has remained a consultant for them and their parent company Tournament Sports Ltd. In addition to teaching and his involvement in equipment manufacture and design he has established a career as an agent/representative to many of the sport’s great performers and has worked with such celebrities as Irina Slutskya, Oksana Baiul, Philippe Candeloro, Eugeny Platov, and many more.
Over the past 20 years skating has taken him all over the World. He has attended, in a professional capacity, all but three World Championships since 1990 and all but two US National Championships during that same time.
In early 2007 Dan returned to England on a semi permanent basis to help care for an ailing family member and has since decided to reside here again permanently and to continue his professional pursuits in the UK.
He is available for private tuition at the Pleasure Beach Arena. Arrangements may be made through the Arena box office or by calling Dan directly on 07842-905663. |
